The Karnataka Judo Association, Bangalore, is affiliated to the Karnataka Olympic Association and the Judo Federation of India, and recognised by the Department of Youth Empowerment & Sports.
At its 41st Karnataka State Sub Junior & Mini Judo Championships 2023-24, held in Bangalore on 29 and 30 November 2023, the merit certificates given to the medal winners were authenticated by Authentic8.
For a young athlete, a state merit certificate opens doors: the next selection, a school admission, a sports quota. Each time, a paper certificate has to be taken on trust, and copies are easy to make.
The association's name, and the names of the partners who support the championships, appear on that paper once and are rarely seen again.
Each merit certificate carries an Authentic8 tag. A tap or a scan opens the athlete's verified record from the championships, so a coach, a selector or a school can confirm it in seconds.
The association and its partners travel with every certificate, and the same tag can sit in a trophy or a medal box, so the moment on the podium can be checked and shared as easily as the paper.
Hardware
Authentic8 works with two components NFC Chips and QR Codes that are Unique, Custom Branded and Encrypted. They go on anything you make: a bottle, a machine, a painting, a trophy or a certificate.
Tap or scan
NFC chip enables short-range, wireless communication between two devices in close proximity. QR code is a two-dimensional barcode that provides easy access to online information through the digital camera on a smartphone or a tablet.
Software
Application designed to scan, authenticate, and provide the provenance history of a product/company on scanning the said NFC Chip or QR Code.
